Psephologist - Specialists in the study of elections and voting behaviour. Using different theoretical models to try and explain voting behaviours.

Long term factors - Primacy model

- Suggests long term influences are more important than short term.

 - Long-standing issues e.g race, gender, age, class.

- Stability - contributed to voting behaviour social factors change slowly over time.

- However short term factors are important but do prevent deeper social factors influencing politics.

Short term factors - Recency model
