The British Crime Survey is the most prominent survey of victims of crime. It is designed to overcome some of the shortcomings of the under-reporting of crime and can give a different picture of crime. It is now carried out annually and consists of 48,000 interviews conducted at home. As a result of these surveys the police force changed its own techniques in 1997 and
