• Jeremy Bentham created this theory in the 18th century (the 18th century was full of poverty, and the rich dominating the poor,there was alot of prositution and alcoholism)
• It worked for its time period, but John Stuart Mill later adapted it (JSM was concerned that with utilitarianism minority groups were being ignored - JSM said that pleasure should be Qualitative & not quantative.)
