Changing work style 

Remote working means working from somewhere other than an office - often from home, or while travelling. The evolution of technology has meant that all employees no longer need to work in the office on desktop computers provided by the IT department. 

Using a VPN 

This is a major step in preventing the theft of data which could otherwise occur if it is transmitted over a public network such as the internet.

Remote Desktop Technology 

This can allow people access for things like troubleshooting and fixing issues. Using this technology you can;

Display the remote computer screen on your own screen

Use your own keyboard and mouse to control the remote screen 

Allow a remote user for example a technical support worker, complete access to and control over your computer.

Factors affecting the use and selection of online systems 

Security 

Security is a big issue to be considered. Under the new GDPR which came into force in May 2018, strengthening the existing Data Protection Act, it is a legal requirement to keep personal data private and secure. There are other very good reasons why a company cannot afford to have its data hacked, misused or stolen. Security breaches are extremely damaging in terms of financial and reputational costs.
