Describe the distribution of population in the UK

Most populated is London, more populated below the tees-ex line because sedimentary is easier to build on, midlands+SE is most populated, Wales, Cornwall, Scotland are the least populated 

Describe the distribution of cities in the UK

Most of the cities are in the Midlands due to the industrial revolution, on M1/near so easy access to London, there are only a few in Scotland, Wales, and the Southwest 

Why have London, Birmingham, Blackpool, Brighton, and Swansea urbanised?

London- capital city, global hub, international links, used in the past as a port 

Birmingham - the sight of the industrial revolution, good road network, first steam trains were built there, canals for the transport of metals eg. steel and iron 

Blackpool + Brighton - attractions,tourism

Swansea - Natural resources found there

Flatland - easier to build, softer rock below tees-ex line so many cities urbanised there 

Port cities- on coast / near coast so they have access to water transport
