Momentum is a measure of how hard it is to stop a moving object, ie. how large a force is required. Measured in Kgm/s

  • p=mv

If the total KE is conserved in the collision, then it is called an elastic collsion. If the total KE changes ("lost"), then this is an inelastic collision.
