Cutting threads on a rod:

Can be cut using hand or metalworking lathe. Quickest way is to cut it by hand. Tools required for external cut are a die and a die stock holder. Dies come in various stock or standard sizes and it is important that the size of the die matches the diameter of the bar. Therefore to cut a 10mm bar, a 10mm die is required.
