Changes to UK population 

  • increasing population will increase energy demand, housing, transport, food, water 
  • more fossil fuels may be needed
  • more land for housing and agriculture 

Pressure of ecosystem due to demands 

  • more food production so more land is needed for agriculture, habitats are destroyed 
  • more land is needed for housing so more greenfield land will be used this will destry habitats and increases the risk of flooding as the impermeable urban surfaces prevent water draining away 
  • The uk is an island so the amount of land id limited as well as the mountainous areas which are hard to build on
  • increase in transport means increase in emissions of GG
