Types of Sentences

There are 5 Types of Sentences available to the Courts. They are:

• Custodial Sentences:
  • 2 Types; Mandatory and Discretionary. Mandatory involve automatic life sentence under s.225 of Criminal Justice Act. Discretionary- Judge decides how much time is spent in custody as long as it is justified under s.152 of CJA. (S.144 Reduced Sentence 1/3 off for those who plead guilty)
• Suspended Sentences:
