Niche Glaciers
These are small patches of ice generally found on upland slopes. They are usually only 10s to 100s of metres across
Corrie/Cirque Glaciers
These are small masses of ice which are 100s metres across. They sit in armchair hollows that they have eroded and sometimes overflow into the main valley below.
Valley Glaciers
These are large masses of flowing ice which normally occupy pre-glacial river valleys…
