LO- Compare the features of asexual and sexual reproduction
The human egg and spem cells ("Gametes") contain 23 chromosones each. When fertilisation happens, the gametes fuse together to make a single cell called a zygote. The zygote has 46 chromosones (23 pairs).
Asexual reproduction
1) Select a healthy plant with the characteristics you want
2) Take a cuting by removing a small branch, leaf or shoot
3) Use rooting hormone to encourage roots to start growth
4) Plant and water the cutting.
Asexual:
-One parents
-Offspring are clones, their genetic material is identical to the parents and each other
-Produces organisims identical to the parents, there is no variation
-E.G. Bacteria and plants
Sexual:
-Two parents, joining of a male and a female sex cell
