The sensory Register

  • temporarily stores information from our senses; sight, sound, touch, taste, smell
  • unless we pay attention to it, is disappears through decay 
  • limited capacity 
  • very limited duration 
  • coded depending on the sense it is picked up from (ie visual, auditory etc)

The Short Term memory

  • Limited capacity 
  • Limited duration 
  • Coding is usually Acoustic 

The Long Term Memory

  • Unlimited Capacity
