Two word stage and Telegraphic stage

Two-word stage (beginning of Syntax)

• at around eighteen months children start to use two words in conjunction
• when doing this they automatically begin to create grammatical relationships between words - start of syntax

"baby crying" - subject + verb

"catch ball" - verb + object

"daddy dinner" - subject + object

"dolly dirty" - subject + complement

• these combinations show simular patterns to more complec grammatical constructions
• phrases use basic blocjs of meaning needed…
