The two-process method is simply classical and operant conditioning. They are both learning principles of the behaviourist approach.

Classical Conditioning.

A learning process that occurs when two stimuli are repeatedly paired gives a response which is at first elicited by the unconditioned stimulus is eventually elicited by the previously neutral stimulus alone.

UCS= Unconditioned stimulus

UCR= Unconditioned response

NS= Neutral stimulus (In pavlov's was a bell)

NR= Neutral response (nothing)

CS= Conditioned stimulus

CR= Conditioned response

The process as an equation:

1) UCS  =  UCR          And            NS
