Transient Tachypnoea of the Newborn (TTN)
Transient - temporary
Tachypnoea - Fast breathing
Of the Newborn.
This occurs from birth to 3 days after the baby is born. It happens because the fluid in the baby's lungs isn't pushed out, causing the baby to breath faster for a temporary period of 3 days.
1/3 of the fluid is usually pushed out during the labour process. 1/3 is pushed out during vaginal delivery therefore, if a baby is born via C-section the baby is more likley to develop TTN and the last 1/3 is pushed out of the lungs when the baby crys and breathes after birth.
Signs and Symptoms and Management of TTN; to assess and monitor…
