Tropical Storms:

Tropical storms are powerful, rotating storms also known as hurricanes, cyclones and typhoons, depending on where they start. They fom over tropical oceans and move form East and West during the summer and autumn, steered by the trade winds. With winds speeds of over 120km/h, the storms can be up to 650km across and bring heavy rain (up to 250mm a day). Each storm may last 6-14 day, bringing devastation to any land in it's path. Tropical storms are complex and it's difficult to see a clear pattern of change over time. However, many scientists believe that global warming is having an impact on these storms by inceasing the temperature of the oceans.
