Butler education act 1944 introduced the tripartite system

3 types of school..

i)Grammer Schools

ii)Technical colleges

iii)Secoundary modern

The aim of Grammer schools was selection. Selection was introduced using the 11+ test to select a small elite. A secound aim was to ensure that the top jobs were filled by pupils with a specialized education and provide students for university.

Technical colleges aimed to provise an education for those pupils who were nott acedemic. the aim was to provide the necessary skills for a trade. Manual occupations such as brick laying, car
