Experience on the Western Front
- before trenches, there were calvary charges and men on horseback with swords.
- Late summer 1914, germany invaded France and almost reached the Eiffle tower but failed to seize Paris and force the french to surrender.
- Once halted, the Germans started digging trenches to shelter from enemy fire. The British and French did the same.
- soon, networks of trenches stretched for 400 miles from the channel coast to the Swiss border. This was the Western Front.
- since trenche were dug, a stalemate continued for the next four years.
