Transition metal properties
- good conductors of heat and electricity
- dense, strong, shiny
- less reactive than group 1 metals (don't react as vigorously with water or oxygen)
- denser, stronger and harder than alkali metals
- have higher melting points than alkali metals
Transition metals can have more than one ion.
Copper: Cu+ and Cu2+
Chromium: Cr2+ and Cr3+
