Transcriptional Factors
Transcriptional factors are molecules that move from the cytoplasm to the nucleus, these are often proteins. These then bind to the promoter region of the target gene and allow or prevent RNA polymerase from binding to the promoter region.
DNA contains a promoter region and a terminator region, these bracket the gene. mRNA is transcribed from DNA, these contain a start and stop codon which is used in transcription.
