Science as a belief system

• Many sociologists see modern science as a product of the process of rationalisation that began with the protestant reformation.
• Science has had a huge impact on society over the last few centuries. Many basic features of todays daily life would be unrecognisable to our ancestors due to scientific development. This success has lead to a widespread faith in science.
