WHAT IS ELECTROLYSIS
- electrolysis= an electric current passed through a substance known as an electrolyte.
- The electrolyte is provides particles to carry the electricity.
- Ions are the particles that carry the electricity.
- Acids can act as electrolytes because they provide hydrogen ions and other ions in their solutions.
- Soluble (or molten) salts can also act as electrolytes, because they dissolve in water to give mobile ions.
