·         The Political Nation was supposed to look after the rest of society (ie. some gave out food at Christmas) but only a few people did

·         One had to have an annual income of at least 40 shillings per year to be qualified to vote for a local MP, making one a part of the Political Nation

o   Peers were people born into titles with inherited land, therefore getting into the Political Nation

o   Only 1/200 people had any say in political decision-making

·         The concept of the “Great Chain of Being” dictated that it was beneficial to everyone to accept the social position in which God had put them. This idea was indoctrinated in the Church so that people didn’t feel resentful.

·         The Royal Court consisted of the King’s household, friends and the great nobility:

o   Parliaments

o   House
