ATOMIC STRUCTURE

  • The typical size of an atom is in between 10^-9 and 10^-10.

ATOMIC MASS AND ATOMIC NUMBERS

  • Mass is the measure of the quantity of a substance present and is measured in grams or kilograms.
  • Weight refers to the force exerted on mass.

RELATIVE ATOMIC MASS FORMULA

  • Ar= weighted average mass of X atom / 1/12massof 12
  • The number of protons in the atomic nucleus is known as the atomic number of the atom, and this determines what type of atom it is.
  • The number of neutrons may vary from one atom to another.
  • Oxygen has a mass number, or nucleon number, of 16.
  • Atoms of the same atomic
