To what extent are roles and relationships within families and households changing?

A number of sociologists have observed significant changes in conjugal roles, the roles of men and women within marriage over the last 50 years. It has been argued that there have been a shift from segregated conjugal roles, where husbands and wives performed seperate leisure activities as well, to joint conjugal roles where husbands and wives both perform paid work, shair unpaid work in the home and have shared leisure and social activities.
