Titration
Method
Same volume of acid + alkali
If both same concentration you get a neutral solution
Titration used to calculate concentration of the other reactant
1. Add know volume of alkali into conical flask usuing a pipette
2. Add a few drops of indicator - Methyl orange or Phenolphthalein
3. Pour some acid into a burette and record the reading (volume inside)
4. Open the tap, add a small amount of acid and swirl the conical lask
5. Add acid until the solution is neutral, shwon by the colour change in indicator
6. Repeat 3 times
Calculations
If the concentration of one of the reactants is unknown, the results of a titration can be used to ind the concentration of the other reactant
1decimetre cubed = 1000cm cubed = 1 litre
