FORMATION
-water is FORCED out of the capillary into the tissues down a pressure gradient
- the pressure is high in the capillary due to heart contraction (ventricular systole)
REABSORBTION
-water is forced back into the capillary due to there being a higher hydrostatic pressure in the tissues compared to the capillary
-the water reenters via osmosis
-enters via osmosis as plasma proteins are too large to leave the capillary and so their conc. in the capillary increases
-high conc.=more negative water potential in the capillary compared to the surrounding fluid
