Historical Development

Psychoactive drugs were first develpoped in the 1950's and revolutionised the treatment of mental disorder because many of the symptoms of serious disorders (such as hallucinations or crippling depression) can be controlled, enabling patients to conduct relatively normal lives.

Examples Of Different Kinds Of Chemotherapy

1. Antipsychotic drugs treat psychotic mental disorders such as schizophrenia which are associated with high levels of the neurotransmitter dopamine.
