• No infrasturcture

Stage 2 - Pre conditions to take off:

• Commercial exploitation of agriculture and extractive industry

Stage 3 - Take Off:

• Development of a manufacturing sector - exporting goods

Stage 4 - The drive to maturity:

• Development of wider industrial and commercial base - more money

Stage 5 - High Mass Consumption:

• Consuming more resources, improving technology

Problems:

• Exploitation by MEDC's - taking resources rather than helping development
• Doesn't take into account other places
• Funding might disappear
