The Working Model of Memory
It has 3 seperate components. The central executive is the most important/ main part of the working model of memory as it controls the 3 slave systems. It takes in information from any of the senses. The central executive controls the visuo-spatial sketchpad (the inner eye), which is used to remember inforamtion that requires visual/spatial processing such as completing a maze. It also controls the phonological loop (the inner ear) which processes sound based information to the STM such as hearing a phone number and remembering it long enough to dial.
