Rising Share Prices

  • Between 1924-29, share prices increases by 5 times their original amount. Price goes up but value stays the same or increases only slightly, but not 5 times.

Financial Speculation

  • Lots of people speculated by 1929 (600,000)
  • Buying shares 'on the margin' (90% loans) in order to speculte and make a profit. (In total, borrowed $9 Billion in 1929 for this purpose)
