THE TREATY OF VERSAILLES WAS SIGNED IN JUNE 1919

ARTICLE 231 of the treaty said that Germany was to blame for the war.  This was known as the WAR-GUILT CLAUSE.

TERMS OF THE TREATY

1. TERRITORIAL LOSSES.  Germany lost its empire.  These countries became mandates and would be run by the League of Nations.  It also lost territory in Europe.  Alsace-Lorraine to France, Eupen and Malmedy to Belgium, Northern Schleswig to Denmark and West Prussia and Posen to Poland.  In addition, the Rhineland was to be de-militarised (it wasn't…
