The stomach

Has a highly folded wall which increases surface area. Continual movement of the wall churns the food, breaking it down mechanically into a substance called CHYME.

The stomach wall contains gastric pits which secrete gastric juices. This gastic juice consists mainly of water, along with other secretions:
