The Song of the Old Mother

This poem is about an old mother who has to do all the housework. She is jealous of her lazy children who stay in bed all day.

'And then I must scrub and bake and sweep' repetition of 'and' makes it seem like she does lots and suggests boredom.

'Of the matching of ribons' perhaps show that her children want to 'tie
