Spirits were at the heart of the prehistoric world. They believed that the spirits had created the world and that every person had his own spirit. These spirits explained why people became sick. If your spirit left your body then you fell ill. You could also fall ill if an evil spirit found it's way into the body while you were asleep

The Medicine Man

If prehistoric people believed that a spirit was causing sickness then he or she visited the 'medicine man' who knew how to deal with spirits. The sick person would lay down and the medicine man would begin to sing, dance and chant. Then the healing would begin. The Medicine man would stand over the sick person and massage the sore or 'sick place' He asked the evil spirit…
