  • During the 1520s and 1530s Lutheran ideas spread widely across Germany, into Denmark and Sweden, into Poland, and even into the Austrian, Bohemian Hungarian lands of the strongly Catholic Habsburgs. Without waiting for the secular authorities to organise a reformation many ordinary people and some nobles adopted reformed religion. 
  • Most northern German princes, and some southern ones, became Lutheran. Nearly all the Imperial Free Cities of the Empire became Lutheran. The King of Denmark and the King of Sweden became Lutheran. Some…
