  • To begin with the reunification was thought of optimistically
  • Germany continued to do well after it took place, however there were issues concerning the reunification
    • Such as economic inequality between Eastern and Western parts of the country - many in the West resent having to pay more taxes to continue to help rebuild the economy of the East
  • Many citizens who emigrated from the GDR
