What is the nervous system?

The nervous system is what lets you react to what goes on around you. It reacts to stimuli- changes in your environment which you may need to react to. A stimulus may be light, sound, touch, pressure, chemical, or a change in temperature.

How does the nervous system detect stimuli?

Your sense organs allow you to detect stimuli. They contain different types of receptors. Receptors are groups of cells that are sensitive to stimuli. You have 5 sense organs:

1. Eyes- contain light receptors

2. Ears- contain sound receptors
