Sleep can be defined as ' a natural and periodic state of rest during which responsiveness to the external environment and its stimuli is diminished.
Sleep occurs as a circadian rhythm and a ultradian cycle of four seperate stages;
Stage 1;
- A light sleep where heart rate declines and muscles relax
