Atkinson and Shiffrin say memory is a flow of information through an information processing system. Information passes from one store to another in a fixed sequence.
Information from environment enters are sensory memory, if relevant we pay attention it and goes into are short-term memory, if we don't it decays. The STM has a capacity of 7+/-2 seconds (Miller magic number). Duration is 30 seconds. If rehearsed will go into long-term memory. Information can be lost by decay/displacement.
