  Founder James Kier Hardie

   Radical Liberalism - found traditional liberal party too conservative & capitalist based
   Trade unionism - becoming poitical
    Nonconformity - chrisitanity was linking with politics & Kier Hardie was a onconformist

  • Formed as national organisation out of labour groups
  • 1894 - James Ramsay MacDonald joined - went on to become first labou prime minister
