1. After WWII, the USSR helped put Rakosi, a brutal Stalinist, in charge of Hungary.

2. In October 1956, the people of Budapest protested against the government of Rakosi.

3. The secret police, who'd executed or imprisoned thousands of Hungarians, were hunted down.
