The Evolution of the Atmosphere

Phase 1:  Valcanoes give out gases:

• Valcanoes created the early atmosphere
• Earths Surface originally molten - million of years
• Eventually it cooled down a little and created a thin crust but valconoes continued erupting.
• Valcanoes released carbon dioxide, water vapour and small amounts of other gases.
• There was virtually no oxygen, it was mainly carbon dioxide.
• The oceans were formed when the water vapour condensed.
