The economy under Macmillan

·       Recovery slower than hoped

·       Sluggish compared to other western countries

·       Society was still class ridden

·       Little entrepreneurial spirit

·       Work force highly unionised

·       Obvious divide between workers & bosses

·       Increasing interest rates and taxes was used as a method to prevent inflation vice verse if growth began to slump  (irresponsible method)

·       Budgets used to political purposes to bribe the public before an election in 1964 by introducing tax cuts…
