Stage 1:

  • High Birth and Death Rates
  • Fluctuates
  • Steady, low population growth

No medicines and birth control are available

 

Stage 2:

  • Death rates decreases
  • Birth rates still high
  • Total population increases

Improvements in medicine and hyginene means longer life expectancy

Predominantly agriculture societies, hight birth rates as children are an economic asset - need to work on the land
