The Carbon Cycle

HideShow resource information

The Carbon Cycle shows how much carbon is naturally recycled

  • All the carbon on Earth moves in a big cycle - the carbon cycle
  • Respiration returns CO2 to the atmosphere as part of the carbon cycle
    • Respiration (the process in plants and animals that releases energy and gives out carbon dioxide as waste) in plants and animals
    • Respiration is decomposers when plants and animals dies, decomposers (bacteria and fungi) break them down. As they do, they respire and produces CO2
  • Burning plants also return carbon dioxide to the atmosphere as part of the carbon cycle
  • Dead plants and animals can also because fossil fuels over long periods of time - oil, natural
