The call of the disciples

Mark 1:14-20 and 2:13-17

Mark 1:14 - 20

Disciple = Pupil/learner/follower

Apostle = One who is sent out

Who: Jesus,Simon and Andrew (brothers and fishermen)

What: They drop their nets and follow Jesus.

Why: Because he needed some disciples

When: During the time of Jesus

Where:Happens at Lake Galilee

The story

  • Simon and Andrew were fishermen - working with a simple casting net. This suggest that they were at the lower end of the peasant class.
  • He called people to repent and believe the good news.
  • Jesus arrived in Galilee with the good news that God's kingdom was…
