The Breathing System

Ventilation:

- Lungs are in the thorax (top part of the chest)

- When breathing in, the diaphram moves down and flatterns and the ribcage expands to make more room in the thorax

- This lowers the pressure in the chest, drawing air in

- When breathing out, the diaphram relaxes, the ribcage shrinks

- This increases the pressure
