The Woman Who Shopped
Consumerist & Materialistic = the society that we live in
Title:
Fairytale/fantasy element "The" = definite article
Structure:
2 parts to poem indicating by * * *
first section = shopping excessively
second section = shopping becomes her - consumerism consumes you.
Stanzas are very controlled shapes, suggests the woman sees nothing but the objects she is shopping for, but it may also be to juxtapose and highlight her lack of control while shopping
Avoids full stops and instead uses caesura, in effect, 1 single sentence = shows she can't stop shopping.
Long lists, without pauses = adds a fast pace to the poem, the woman doesn't stop to think about what she is doing/what she is buying
