the big three were france britain and usa
after the first world war(1918) they wanted to make sure a world war wouldnt happen again
clemenceau the french priminister wanted to blame and weaken germany to punish them
lloyd george the british priminister wanted to punish germany and increase the british empires power
wilson the us priminister wanted self determination disarmament and a league of nations
the treaty of versailles were signed in 1919:
-germany lost large amounts of land
-germany had to take blame for the war
-germanys armed forces were reduced
-germany had to pay huge reparations
the TOV was hated in germany because:
-germany couldnt afford the reparations and would suffer an economic crisis
-germany didnt feel like they were the only ones to blame
-germany lost its pride without their armed forces
lloyd george was pleased britain had been given german colonies which expanded the british empires rescources
however he was worried about the repercussions but had to represent british public opinion or risk losing political support
france were given more security with rhineland being demilitarised
clemenceau wanted the reparations to be higher however

nothing in the treaty could help rebuild european trade and wealth so europe couldnt recover properly if germany were poor
german anger would lead to trouble in the future as they had no choice but to accept it
